I've know about Nanami Cowdroy's artwork for about a year now, and I forget how much I love it. I stumbled across it at www.gelaskins.com last year looking for something to dress up my mac book, and I loved her pieces the best. She's from Sydney, Australia, and embraces her Japanese-European heritage through he artwork. I love that it's black and white, and that it looks smudged, and most importantly wet. Everything is dripping with Ink, and it looks like you could destroy it with the wipe of a clumsy hand. I've always liked Coy fish in art, and she uses them often. Her work is now currently gracing my desktop, and I thought I put up some of my favorites:

What I've Been Up To
The last time I made a "look book" was for the use of light and it's creative applications in my Technical Theatre class. I threw it out once I started college (or it's floating neglected around my room at home). After feeling inspired to get creative recently, I marched to the book store and bought a sketch book, pair of scissors, a glue stick, and the new issue of Elle Decor, and got busy!
It feels good to be snipping out stuff I like again. I don't know why I stopped.
Here's a sneaky-peak:
I have to go to class, but I have the back cover and another page to add. I'll put it up later!

My Interior Motive
I barely have any time to write before my next class (Art History), but I thought I would share some pictures that I've been salivating over. This Blog was created not only for Fashion, but also for Interior design, of which I have had a serious affection for every since I worked at Resto. And from when I was apeshit about scenic design. I love it. Since working at Resto I've grown fond of hardware imparticular, and when I moved into my Victorian apartment, all I could think about was 3" pulls, color schemes, and switchplates. I'm lame. But ambitious!
While there are more to come, here are some of my favorites right now.

Anthropologie
Love the bird. Anthropologie's Hardware is something to covet, expecially if you're into Kitchie and off-beat fixtures.

(I considered replacing the pull of my front door with this, but I don't know if my Landlord would approve.)

Anthropologie
While this looks awesome, the $4800 price tag completely turns me off. This would be a great DIY, though. Any thoughts?

Restoration Hardware
I love the Crystal Collection that RH runs. All their lamps are quite traditional, but the Stacked Block Crystal Table Lamp is as modern as it gets.

Restoration Hardware "Chelsea Column" Table Lamp
I've been a fan of their Fluted Column, but their new Chelsea really stands out, especially in the Polished Chrome finish they've got going on.

Restoration Hardware "Sea Green"
Restoration's signature color is "Silver Sage", but their slightly darker counterpart, Sea Green, is a good choice too. My Apartment luckily came with a similar color.

Where were these when I was employed?! Love them, no explanation needed!

Menswear Fall '08: Make Up His Breakdown
While the number of fashionable men at VCU are few, there are a few gems I know who go to a lot of trouble to make sure they look their best. Maybe the rest will stumble upon this blog and see the light?

The Sweet, Sweet feeling when you open your mailbox
I received my Urban Outfitters package today in the mail! However, when I pulled out my purchases I was a little surprised.
I know the style is oversized.... but part me thinks that these are just too big.....
I'll be wearing them out to ridiculous dance parties... and hey.... maybe I'll use them for Halloween, but the size they're at, I'm thinking casual wear just isn't so.
What do you think?
comments, PLEASE.

Shopping: The Musical
I just finished reading the Style and Society Blog at Vanity Fair, it's article "Runway Rhythms and Front Row Sightings" was pretty interesting. Morgan waxed thoughtfully on the use of music during runway shows at Fashion Week. I know that music sets a tone, but I wonder if anyone has ever shopped to a song? I guess this is used in music videos (maybe?), but do a lot of designers use certain songs as inspiration? Did Michael Kors and his design team listen to "Our lips Are Sealed" a billion times while drawing up concepts? Personally, I think not. But what if you picked a series of songs, brought your ipod to the mall and shopped according to the music you listened to? Would you be happy with what you had purchased once you got home? Would shopping be easier this way?
I think I might scour my iTunes later tonight (while I procrastinate on studying) and pick a song to arrange a wardrobe for. Would it be easy to pick out an entire series of clothes according to the mood of one song? This might be easy, or it might be incredibly hard....
